Information - Benzac Ac Gel 5%
Benzac Gel is used as an aid in the treatment of acne.
It contains benzoyl peroxide which kills the bacteria on your skin that cause acne.
It unplugs blocked pores (blackheads and whiteheads).
Use
Things you must do
Always begin acne therapy with either the 2.5% or 5% Benzac.
Wash and dry your hands before applying the gel. Squeeze a small quantity of gel onto your finger tips and rub a thin film onto the affected areas.
Follow this three step plan:
Step 1. Apply once daily, leaving on the skin for 2 hours then wash off with water.
Step 2. After three days if no discomfort is felt, apply in the evening and leave on all night.
Step 3. If after three days, there is no redness or peeling and your skin is still not improving, apply twice a day morning and night.
Persevere with your therapy as acne can take time to improve.
Ingredients
It contains benzoyl peroxide.
Benzac AC Gel also contains acrylates copolymer beads that absorb excess oils and release glycerol which reduces the risk of irritation.
Important Notes
Things you must not do: Do not apply to eyes, lips, mouth or sensitive areas of the neck. If accidental contact occurs rinse with water and pat dry. Contact may cause irritation. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or other sources of ultra-violet light. Do not use harsh skin cleansers or scrubs. Do not use cosmetic products that contain alcohol. Do not use medicated soaps. These things may have an extra drying or irritant effect.
Things you can do: If you forget to apply it use it again as directed, as soon as you remember. Use a gentle cleanser. Apply a non-greasy sunscreen when sun protection is needed.
Things to be careful of: Keep cosmetic use to a minimum and avoid oil based cosmetics which can clog the pores. Be careful when using Benzac gel because benzoyl peroxide can bleach or discolour clothing or towels.
If excessive swelling, irritation, redness or peeling occurs discontinue use. If it persists consult your doctor.
